About the Owner
The owner, Gill, was born and raised in Lancashire, England, where antiques were just a way of life. Everybody's home housed numerous treasures without even knowing it. Scouring weekly car boot (UK version of a garage sale) sales at the crack of dawn with her mother, paved the way for a great passion for antiques. The thrill of finding a hidden gem and selling it at auction soon became her favorite past time. The adventurer in her took her to travel the world through work on board luxury cruise liners, it is here where Gill met her Dutch husband Yogi. For a whole 10 years they worked together on board cruise ships and lived among different cultures while learning about the world along the way.
In 2007 they finally decided it was time to settle down and they chose the beautiful town of Cary in North Carolina, within the Greater Raleigh area, to do so. Settling in didn't take them long, after months of hard work they transformed a building that previously housed a tavern/grill into a showroom filled with character and true English charm. In October of 2008 the doors to Streets of London Antiques were opened.
Gill imports her beautiful collection of antique furniture directly from England and also sources it through auctions and estate sales nearby. Since opening in 2008 she has build up a wide variety of antiques but also established many contacts which help her fulfill the specific requirements of her clients.
This truly has become a family business, as besides caring for the shop, she also is the proud mother of 2 beautiful children.
