Antique English Art Deco China Cabinet, Curio, Display Case. C.1920.
This stylish walnut Art Deco china cabinet was made in England and dates back to the 1920's.
The makers label on the inside of the right door is H & Co Ltd, Herqual Cabinet, which also bears the British Standard Institutes regulation number (1960) for furniture "made mostly of Wood products" which is also accompanied by the BSI "Kite Mark".
It features double glass doors with a center glass panel decorated with a silver scrolled pattern. Inside it has 2 glass shelves and the original fabric lined back along with the original locks on each door and a working key.
The bow front is gently scalloped and it stands on 4 short queen Anne legs.
The top is finished with beautifully figured veneers and the whole thing has developed a wonderful aged patina.
There is minor wear and dings throughout the wood and a small piece of veneer missing next to the key hole on the right door. There are also some marks on the interior fabric. I have tried to show as much of this as possible in the pictures and as you can see it only adds to its character and charm.
Over all, this beautiful piece of Art Deco furniture is in solid, sturdy condition with minor age appropriate flaws.
Dimensions: width 42", depth 14", height 44 1/4".
