Antique Porcelain Jug, Gaudy Welsh, Oyster Pattern, 19th Century.
Charming porcelain Gaudy Welsh jug or creamer imported from England. This folksy, unpretentious porcelain was originally made in England and Wales between 1820 and 1860 for working class families and was not made to be perfect.
Today it is highly collectible and this pretty jug is a fine example. It displays hand painted decoration in cobalt blue, burnt orange with touches of copper luster and pink luster on a white background.
I would consider this piece to be in good condition for its age. There is a hairline crack on the inside of the rim and some small flea bite chips around the top edge, but no other damage or repairs. It has all the characteristic flaws you would expect to find which are shown in the pictures and only add to it's whimsical charm.
Dimensions: Height 3 3/4", width from handle to spout 5"
