Antique Creamer, Gaudy Welsh Jug, Allertons, Oyster Pattern, 19th C.
Charming earthenware Gaudy Welsh jug or creamer imported from England.
This folksy, unpretentious pottery was originally made in England and Wales between 1820 and 1860 for working class families and was not made to be perfect. It was thick and coarse, full of pitting and woefully out of shape.
Today it is highly collectible and this charming, little jug is a fine example. It displays hand painted decoration in cobalt blue, burnt orange with touches of copper luster on a white background.
The under side is stamped with the maker 'Allertons' and it is in fantastic condition with no damage or repairs.
Dimensions: Height 3 1/2", width from handle to spout 4 1/4"
