Antique Gaudy Welsh Cup Saucer & Side Plate Columbine pattern 19th C

Gaudy Welsh, columbine pattern cup, saucer and side plate trio, imported from England.

This folksy, unpretentious pottery was originally made in England and Wales between 1820 and 1860 for working class families and was not made to be perfect. It was thick and coarse, full of pitting and woefully out of shape.

Today it is highly collectible and this pretty trio is a fine example. It features the Columbine pattern which is hand painted in cobalt blue with pink flowers and touches of copper and pink luster on a white background.

All 3 pieces are in excellent condition aside from some minor wear to the pattern and faint scratching. It has all the characteristic flaws you would expect to find which are shown in the pictures and only add to it's whimsical charm.

Dimensions: cup height at handle 2 1/2", cup width including handle 4 5/8", saucer diameter 5 3/4", side plate diameter 6 1/8", total height 2 7/8".
