Early 18th Century Antique Empire Mahogany Secretaire a Abattant, Drop Front Desk.
Fantastic antique Empire style secretaire a abattant dating back to the early 1800's and featuring stunning flame mahogany veneers.
The central front section drops down to reveal numerous small drawers and a small cabinet. There is also a green leather top writing desk with spindle gallery which pulls out to create the perfect work space.
Hand carved accents adorn the top and bottom of the front columns. The front legs are also hand carved and the front columns are topped by hand turned finials.
This is an amazing old piece of antique furniture which has its character flaws such as splitting, chipping to the veneer, warping, wear and old repairs. I have tried to show as much as possible in the pictures and as you can see, all of its flaws are actually very minor for a piece of this age and in my opinion only add to its character and charm.
Over all, this impressive piece is extremely heavy and is in solid, sturdy, clean, functional condition with minor age appropriate flaws.
Dimensions: width 42" depth 22 1/2", total height 66".
