The Collectors Journal

Exploring the history, craftsmanship and stories behind the pieces we collect.

A New Chapter for Streets of London Antiques

A New Chapter for Streets of London Antiques

After months of work behind the scenes, we're delighted to welcome you to the new Streets of London Antiques website — and to a new chapter for our newsletter, now called The Collectors Journal.

For many years, our website has provided a window into Streets of London Antiques. But as our collection and business have continued to evolve, it was time to open that window wider and show you much more of what lies beyond it.

Get Your Antique Fix, Wherever You Are

One of the biggest changes is the opportunity to show much more of our collection online, in a format that makes it easier to browse and to request shipping quotes.

From English, European, American and Asian furniture to decorative antiques, tableware, curiosities, jewelry and our custom-made cake stands, you'll find it here.

And if you really want to be among the first to see our latest finds, follow us on Instagram. We often share new arrivals there before they’ve been photographed, researched and listed on the website — so you may just spot something before everyone else does.

What you see online today is still only part of what's available. We're continuing to add inventory, while our Cary showroom remains home to a considerably larger collection.

Introducing The Collectors Journal

Alongside the new website, we're also giving our newsletter a new home — and a new name.

Welcome to The Collectors Journal.

Many of you will already know our newsletters, but going forward we'd like them to become more than simply a way of telling you what's new in the shop.

The Collectors Journal will be somewhere we can share more of the stories behind what we do: the history of furniture and decorative arts, traditional craftsmanship and techniques, unusual objects we've encountered, interesting makers and periods, collecting, restoration and, of course, some of the latest finds to arrive at Streets of London.

Those are the stories we'd like to share here and save on our new site.

Not Everything Is Changing...

While quite a lot has changed online, the important things haven't.

We're still an independent antiques business with a genuine love for what we do. We still enjoy the hunt for unusual pieces, learning something new about them and curating them in our showroom — and, best of all, seeing them leave with you to begin a new chapter in their next home.

Our showroom here in Cary, North Carolina remains very much at the heart of Streets of London Antiques. And if you're close enough — we think we're worth a couple of hours' drive — we'd love you to visit us in person.

Sir George Is Still Standing Guard...

As he has for nearly 18 years, Sir George remains ready to welcome visitors through our doors — although we’re not entirely sure how much longer he’ll be staying with us. Since becoming the star of our latest film, he’s become rather full of himself and may now have ambitions beyond greeting visitors to the showroom.

You can see Sir George in his starring role — and take a short journey through Streets of London Antiques — in our latest film, A Passion for the Past. Curated for Today.

A New Way to Reach Us

Along with our new website, we also have a new email address.

You can now reach us at:

info@solantiques.com

If you've corresponded with us using one of our previous email addresses, we'd recommend adding the new address to your contacts. It's the best address to use for general questions about the shop, products, shipping or anything else we can help with.

Thank You for Being Part of the Story

Some of you have been with us for many years. You've watched the collection change, seen pieces come and go, and followed Streets of London as we've grown. And if you don't know us quite as well yet, you can learn a little more about us here.

None of this would be possible without the people who have supported Streets of London Antiques over the years.

Thank you. We hope you'll enjoy this next chapter just as much as we do.

A Note from the Editor

I promise future editions of The Collectors Journal will contain rather more antiques and rather less talk about websites and email addresses.

I’ll also be handing the reins back to Tony for the next edition, so normal service — including a little more English wit and humor — should soon be restored.

In the meantime, thank you for indulging me while we showed off our new website. We’re rather pleased with it.
