1940s American Hand-Painted Glass Globe Lamp
A beautiful 1940s American glass globe lamp, combining softly colored hand-painted florals, decorative glass, and an ornate metal base to create the romantic appearance of traditional Victorian oil lighting.
Produced during the 1940s as an electric interpretation of earlier oil lamps, the design features a large hand-painted floral glass globe above a coordinating decorated glass body, complemented by a clear glass chimney. The aged metal fittings and decorative base complete its wonderfully nostalgic appearance.
When illuminated, the upper globe produces a warm, inviting glow that beautifully highlights the hand-painted floral decoration. It is equally attractive when switched off, making it both a practical source of ambient lighting and a decorative accent throughout the day.
At 18 1/2" tall, the lamp has enough presence to make a statement without overwhelming a room. It would be particularly charming on a bedside table, side table, dresser, or console and works beautifully in cottage, English country, farmhouse, Victorian-inspired, or eclectic interiors.
A lovely surviving example of mid-20th-century decorative lighting with plenty of warmth and vintage character.
Condition
Very good vintage condition.
The lamp displays some expected age-appropriate wear. The metal components have developed natural patination and surface wear consistent with age.
There are two small nicks to the top edge of the upper glass globe, as shown in photograph #15.
