Carved Oak Console Table with Curly Heart Pine Top
A handsome late 19th-century American console or hall table, combining heavily carved oak with a striking curly heart pine veneered top.
The table is raised on a substantial trestle base with ornately hand-carved end supports connected by a thick turned stretcher. The carving gives the base plenty of presence, while the warm golden oak has developed a rich aged patina that highlights the depth of the detailing.
Above, the thick oak plank top is veneered in beautifully figured curly heart pine, adding visual movement and contrast to the heavier carved base. The combination of materials gives the table a distinctive character and makes it equally suited to a hallway, entryway, living room, or study.
At 41" wide, it offers a useful surface without requiring a large footprint, making it a practical choice for displaying lamps, books, artwork, or decorative objects.
Condition
Good antique condition.
The table has a warm aged golden oak patina with expected minor wear, marks, and imperfections throughout.
There is some slight movement in the joints, although the table remains strong and functional. Shrinkage cracking is present at the ends of the top but does not affect the integrity of the piece.
