19th Century Mahogany Kneehole Desk with Leather Top & Brass Gallery
A show-stopping 19th-century mahogany kneehole desk, beautifully restored and filled with exceptional decorative details from every angle.
Constructed in three sections, the desk features a wonderfully aged mustard-yellow leather writing surface bordered with a gold-tooled Greek key design. The warm, timeworn leather creates a striking contrast against the rich mahogany and gives the desk a distinctive character that could never be replicated by a new replacement surface.
Rising above the back is a narrow bookshelf supported by eight neoclassical-style brass columns and finished with a repeating arched brass gallery. This elegant upper section provides a useful place for books or treasured objects while giving the desk an impressive architectural presence.
The mahogany front is accented with fine ebony string inlay and delicate cock-beaded drawer edges, continuing the sophisticated neoclassical influence. Nine drawers provide excellent storage and retain their original brass pulls and escutcheons. The original locks are also present, although there is no key.
Below, solid curved bracket feet provide a handsome foundation and balance the more delicate detailing above.

The aged leather writing surface retains the character and wear developed over time. The original drawer locks remain present, but there is no key.
