Late 19th Century American Carved Oak Dresser with Rose Marble & Swivel Mirror
A magnificent late 19th-century American dresser combining richly carved solid oak, an original rose marble top, generous storage, and a large beveled swivel mirror.
The substantial oak case is beautifully detailed throughout, with bold carving and architectural lines that give the piece the strong presence associated with late Victorian American furniture. The warm tones of the oak are complemented beautifully by the rose-colored marble top, adding a luxurious contrast of texture and color.
Five drawers provide generous storage. Four are fitted with classic aged brass pulls, while the smaller upper center drawer is felt lined and opens with its working key. The attached beveled mirror swivels within its supports, allowing it to be adjusted while reflecting light and adding impressive height to the overall design.
At over 82" tall, this is a true statement piece with both decorative impact and practical function. It would be equally at home anchoring a large bedroom, dressing room, hallway, or other interior where its craftsmanship and scale can be fully appreciated.
A handsome piece of Gilded Age furniture with wonderful materials, strong proportions, and the character that only generations of use can create.
Condition
Very good antique condition.
The dresser is solid, sturdy, and structurally sound, with expected age-appropriate wear and imperfections throughout.
There is slight marking to one upper corner of the mirror and a scratch to the marble top, shown in photograph #12 and #13.
