Late 19th Century Eastlake Walnut Marble Top Dresser with Mirror

A beautiful late 19th-century Eastlake-style dresser crafted from solid walnut and featuring a tall mirror, gorgeous taupe marble top, burled walnut drawer fronts, and the distinctive carved details associated with the Eastlake period.

The base offers three spacious drawers, each beautifully faced with richly figured burled walnut veneer. The drawers retain their original handmade wooden escutcheons and locks, although there is no key. At some point, the original pulls were replaced with newer brushed silver cup handles, giving the dresser an interesting contrast between old and new.

Above the drawers is a gorgeous taupe marble top that complements the warm walnut beautifully. The tall mirror and carved wooden surround give the dresser an impressive overall height of 74 1/4", while its relatively compact 39 1/2" width makes it easier to accommodate than many larger Victorian dressers.

The solid walnut has developed a wonderful aged patina, while the burled veneer, marble, carved Eastlake details, and naturally aged mirror give the piece the authentic old-world character that only comes with time.

Overall, this is a handsome and practical antique dresser offering generous storage and plenty of decorative presence, ready to become a distinctive addition to a bedroom, dressing room, or collected interior.

Condition

Good antique condition.

The solid walnut displays minor age-appropriate wear and imperfections throughout, contributing to its warm, authentic patina.

The mirror is free from cracks and breaks but does have areas of wear and losses to the original silvering, as shown in the photographs.

The taupe marble top is in great condition for its age with some expected minor edge chipping and surface wear.

The three drawers retain their original handmade wooden escutcheons and locks, but there is no key. The brushed silver cup handles are later replacements.

Overall, the dresser remains solid and sturdy and is ready for the home.
