Antique Copper Bed Warmer with Brass Fittings & Long Turned Wooden Handle

Antique Copper Bed Warmer with Brass Fittings & Long Turned Wooden Handle

A wonderfully aged antique copper bed warmer, featuring a beautifully patinated copper warming pan, solid brass handle attachment, and an extended, elegantly turned wooden handle.

This charming piece of domestic history offers a fascinating glimpse into how homes were kept comfortable long before modern central heating. Traditionally, the hinged copper pan would be filled with hot coals and carefully moved between the bed linens to take away the chill on cold winter nights.

The generously sized copper pan features a hinged lid that lifts to reveal the interior, while the substantial brass fitting connects it to the long wooden handle. The beautifully turned handle provides an attractive contrast to the warm tones of the copper and brass, creating a lovely combination of traditional materials.

Over the years, the copper has developed a rich, naturally aged patina, with areas of verdigris, surface wear, and imperfections that give the piece its unmistakable old-world character and charm.

Although no longer intended for its original purpose, this antique bed warmer would make a wonderful decorative addition to a country-style home, farmhouse kitchen, rustic living room, or traditional fireplace setting.

Whether displayed beside a hearth, hung on a wall, or incorporated into a collection of antique copper kitchenware and household objects, it brings a lovely sense of warmth, history, and character to any interior.

Condition

Good antique condition with expected signs of age and use.

The copper pan displays a wonderful aged patina, with dings, surface marks, scratches, wear, and areas of verdigris throughout. These characteristics are consistent with its age and former use and contribute to its authentic old-world charm.

The brass fittings and long wooden handle also display the natural signs of age associated with an antique household piece.

This item is offered as a decorative antique and is not intended for use with hot coals or as a functioning bed warmer.
