Sale price$2,400.00

Antique English Georgian Oak Corner Cabinet Circa 1800 with Marquetry Inlay & Mahogany Crossbanding

A magnificent antique English Georgian corner cabinet dating to around 1800, beautifully crafted from solid oak and featuring exquisite marquetry inlay, richly figured mahogany crossbanding, and elegant reeded detailing.

Standing an impressive 77" tall, this handsome cabinet combines the refined craftsmanship of the Georgian period with the practical appeal of a traditional corner cupboard. Its generous proportions and architectural design make it a wonderful statement piece while utilizing an otherwise overlooked corner of a room.

The double-door panels are particularly attractive, featuring decorative marquetry inlay framed by richly figured mahogany crossbanding. The contrasting tones of the mahogany and warm oak create a beautiful visual effect, highlighting the cabinetmaker's attention to detail.

Elegant reeded detailing along the sides adds further sophistication, reflecting the classical influences so characteristic of Georgian furniture.

Behind the upper cupboard doors are three beautifully scalloped shelves, a delightful period detail that provides an attractive setting for displaying fine china, ceramics, glassware, or treasured collectibles.

The lower cupboard offers additional enclosed storage, making this substantial piece as practical as it is decorative.

More than two centuries of use have given the oak a wonderful warm patina, with natural variations in color, surface wear, and imperfections that contribute to its authentic antique character.

The cabinet retains a working lock and key in the upper cupboard, while the lower cupboard does not have a working lock and key. The handles are later replacements, fitted during the cabinet's long history, and complement its traditional appearance.

Perfect for a dining room, country kitchen, hallway, or traditional sitting room, this beautiful cabinet would be equally at home in an English country house or a carefully curated period-inspired interior.

A fine example of Georgian craftsmanship, combining elegant decorative details, generous storage, and the enduring beauty of richly aged oak.

Condition

Very good antique condition, with expected signs of age and use accumulated over more than two centuries.

The oak displays a beautiful aged patina, with surface marks, scratches, wear, and other age-related imperfections throughout.

There is some age-related splitting to the lower left door panel, clearly shown in photograph #10. Please examine this area carefully.

The handles are later replacements, fitted during the cabinet's history, and function as intended.

The upper cupboard retains a working lock and key. The lower cupboard does not have a working lock and key.

Overall, an attractive antique cabinet retaining its wonderful Georgian character and historic charm.

Please review all photographs carefully, particularly the splitting to the lower left door panel, later handles, and areas of surface wear, as they form an important part of the description. Additional photographs are always available upon request.

Please note: Decorative accessories and styling items shown in the photographs are for presentation purposes and are not included unless specifically mentioned.
