Pair of Garfinkel's Hand-Painted Porcelain Demitasse Cups & Saucers
A charming pair of finely made porcelain demitasse cups and matching saucers, beautifully decorated with a delicate peach tree pattern and finished by hand.
The porcelain was made in Japan and then hand-finished in Hong Kong for Garfinkel's of Washington, D.C., the well-known department store founded in 1905. The combination of Japanese porcelain craftsmanship, hand-applied decoration, and the Garfinkel's retail connection gives this set both decorative appeal and an interesting provenance.
The soft floral and fruiting tree motif is wonderfully suited to the petite scale of the demitasse cups, while the matching saucers complete the elegant presentation. Their refined proportions make them ideal for espresso, after-dinner coffee, or simply for display in a china cabinet.

Condition
Very good vintage condition.
The cups and saucers have been well looked after and show very little sign of use. There are no chips or cracks, with only minor age-appropriate wear consistent with careful ownership.
