Early 20th Century Bow Front Dresser with Swivel Mirror
A wonderfully characterful country-style dresser dating to the very early 20th century, combining a graceful bow-front chest with a tall swivel mirror and charming decorative details.
Crafted from solid wood with a rich dark red-brown finish, the dresser has developed a warm aged patina that beautifully complements its traditional form. The lower section offers two smaller drawers above two generously sized bow-front drawers, all retaining their original brass drop handles and locks. The original locks remain present, although there is no key.
Short Queen Anne-style legs and shaped side skirts give the base an attractive country furniture feel, while the upper section adds both height and considerable charm. A large swivel mirror is supported between turned spindle-form arms and positioned above a narrow display shelf, providing the perfect place for perfume bottles, jewelry, or other small treasures.
Beneath the mirror are additional petite trinket drawers, while a hand-carved thistle crowns the upper section and provides a distinctive finishing touch.
At just 36" wide, this dresser offers useful storage and a full-height dressing mirror without requiring a large footprint, making it particularly well suited to a bedroom, guest room, dressing area, or cottage-inspired interior.
Condition
Good antique condition.
The dresser is solid and sturdy with expected age-appropriate wear throughout, including dings, marks, finish wear, minor wood splitting, and other imperfections that contribute to its authentic character.
The mirror displays expected aging and areas of silver loss. There is staining to the top of the small upper drawer on the right, and the drop portion of the handle is missing from one of the small upper drawers.
The original locks remain on the drawers, but there is no key.
