A wonderfully timeworn 19th-century pine blanket box, solidly built and full of character, retaining its original deep blue painted finish now beautifully distressed from generations of use.

The surface has developed a richly aged patina, with gentle wear revealing glimpses of the pine beneath and creating the authentic, lived-in appearance so desirable in early country furniture. The simple lift-top lid, traditional metal front latch, and shaped bracket feet give the piece a straightforward utilitarian form softened by just enough decorative detail.

Inside, the box offers generous storage for blankets, linens, toys, seasonal textiles, or other household items. Its practical proportions also make it wonderfully versatile as a bench-height storage piece, hallway accent, or coffee table.

Condition

Good antique condition.

The blanket box is solid, sturdy, and structurally sound, with age-appropriate wear throughout. Marks, splits, paint loss, surface wear, and other imperfections developed over time contribute to its authentic character and charm. One piece of trim is missing from the right underside of the lid.
