Early 18th Century English Georgian Walnut Queen Anne Shepherds Crook Arm Chair.
A wonderful early 18th century English Georgian Queen Anne armchair, handcrafted from solid walnut and retaining all the character one would hope to find in a genuine period chair of this age.
Featuring beautifully shaped shepherd's crook arms, graceful cabriole legs terminating in traditional pad feet, and a distinctive vasiform back splat, this chair displays many of the design details that have made early Georgian furniture so highly regarded by collectors.
Over the course of approximately 300 years, the walnut has developed a rich, warm patina that beautifully highlights the natural grain of the timber. The armrests have become wonderfully smooth through generations of use, a subtle reminder of the chair's long history and the many hands that have enjoyed it over the centuries.
The brown studded leather seat is a later replacement dating from the early 20th century and remains in excellent condition. It complements the chair beautifully while providing comfort for everyday use without detracting from the chair's period character.
Whether placed in a library, study, living room, or entryway, this handsome armchair brings warmth, history, and exceptional craftsmanship to any setting.
Three chairs from this set are currently available and may be purchased individually or together, subject to availability. If you are interested in purchasing multiple chairs, please contact us to confirm availability and receive a combined shipping estimate.
