A graceful pair of antique 18th-century French Louis XV side chairs, beautifully shaped and richly detailed with hand-carved floral decoration. Elegant in form yet full of age and character, these chairs embody the flowing lines, sculptural carving, and refined proportions associated with classic French design.
Each chair features a gently shaped upholstered back crowned with hand-carved flowers, above a generously proportioned seat and elegantly curved cabriole legs. The front legs terminate in small casters, adding both period character and practical movement.
The chairs are upholstered in a striking peach-colored fabric with a subtle diamond-and-dot pattern. The warm tone complements the aged wood beautifully while giving the pair a distinctive decorative presence.
Perfect for a bedroom, parlor, hallway, fireside setting, or as occasional seating in a traditional interior, these chairs offer an appealing combination of comfort, history, and unmistakable French elegance.

Condition
Good antique condition.
Overall, both chairs are strong, sturdy, and suitable for use, although one chair displays slight movement within the joints.
There are losses to the carved floral decoration at the tops of the chair backs, including one missing petal on one chair. Age-related splitting is present within the back frames, together with several older repairs, including a repair to one front leg. These repairs remain secure and do not affect the functionality or overall presentation of the chairs.
The casters vary slightly between the two chairs, and one caster on each chair has been flattened along one side.
The later upholstery remains strong, supportive, and comfortable. One chair has a faint water mark on the seat and back, while the other displays a few small stains and areas of wear. The fabric is clean and may be used as is.
Both frames have developed a warm, naturally aged patina with expected marks, wear, losses, and imperfections throughout, all contributing to their authentic antique character and old-world charm.
