Cleveland Metal Products Co. Kerosene Refill Jar for Perfection Stoves, Circa 1930s
Step back into the utilitarian elegance of the 1930s with this authentic kerosene refill jar, manufactured by the Cleveland Metal Products Co., a company known for durable American household equipment and thoughtful engineering.
Designed for use with newly developed kerosene-fired kitchen stoves created by Frank Drury and sold under the Perfection Stove name, this refill jar was made to supply fuel safely and efficiently. Once filled, the jar would be inverted and placed into a receiving dispenser on the stove. The spring-loaded cap then released kerosene through an internal system of pipes to the individual burners.
The original spring dispenser spout remains in place, offering a fascinating example of the practical engineering used in early 20th-century household appliances. The jar also retains its original metal carrying handle, now beautifully aged with a natural patina that reflects decades of use and storage.
Clearly molded into the glass are the markings “The Cleveland Metal Products Co.” and “Patent Applied For,” further adding to the piece’s historic interest and authenticity.
More than simply a utilitarian object, this jar is a wonderful conversation piece connected to American domestic life and technological progress between the wars. Condition
Very good vintage condition.
The glass is free from chips, cracks, or structural damage. The spring-loaded lid opens smoothly, and the original metal carrying handle remains secure. Age-appropriate wear and patina are present throughout, along with markings from use on the underside of the base.
