Sterling Silver Kokopelli Brooch and Pendant by Kopavi
A striking vintage sterling silver brooch and pendant featuring Kokopelli, the well-known humpbacked flute player associated with the cultural traditions of Native American communities throughout the American Southwest.
Created in the Hopi-style silver overlay tradition for Kopavi, the piece is formed from layered sheets of sterling silver. In this technique, the design is cut into the upper layer so the recessed, darkened silver beneath remains visible, creating the bold contrast and dimensional effect for which overlay jewelry is admired.
Kokopelli is commonly depicted as a flute player and has long been associated with themes of fertility, abundance, music, and good fortune. Here, the elongated figure is rendered with a strong graphic quality that allows the silverwork and silhouette to take center stage.

Condition
Very good vintage condition.
The silver displays age-appropriate surface wear and natural oxidation, with more pronounced oxidation visible on the reverse. One noticeable scratch is present near the waist of the figure, as shown in photograph #6.
